Great Burnet is a very long-lived perennial herb of neutral grasslands. It occurs in damp or unimproved pastures, hay meadows and marshy meadows. It is a tall, striking plant with dark crimson bulbous flower heads. Due to it's distinctive appearance, it is a much sought after plant, adding a unique appearance and structure to planting displays.

Great Burnet is in decline.
