A perennial of sea-cliffs. It can be found on ledges, in crevices and on calcareous or base-rich rocks, where it is often rooted in soil enriched with calcareous shell and sand. It can also occur on saltmarshes, growing in low-marsh sites. It frequents areas where drift-litter accumulates.
