A perennial  of woods, hedgebanks, grassland, rock outcrops, upland screes, road verges, railway banks and waste ground. It can be found on most soil types. It spreads vegetatively by prostrate stems which root at the node. A great species for lawns.

Also known as Bird's-eye or Cat's-eye. Has beautiful azure blue flowers.
