Briallu Mair

One of Britain's most popular scented flowers. This perennial thrives in well-drained, herb-rich grasslands on neutral to calcareous soils, also occasionally in other habitats. It is used in the perfume industry and the flowers are also collected to make Cowslip wine. The leaves are the larval food plant of the elusive and threatened butterfly species the 'Duke of Burgundy'.
