Crydwellt
Common Quaking Grass has numerous other names, including Shivery Shakes! It flowers in late spring to early summer, producing small, delicate blooms with subtle pale green or purplish tones. The individual spikelets and florets form an elegant display that contributes to the plant’s natural charm, which is further highlighted by its gentle, trembling movement in the breeze.
Quaking Grass is a shortly rhizomatous perennial most commonly found in unimproved, species-rich, well-grazed grasslands on infertile, calcareous soils, particularly on well-drained slopes. It also occurs in old meadows and pastures on neutral or occasionally acidic soils, as well as in the drier areas of fens, soligenous mires, and along roadbanks and tracksides within otherwise acidic habitats.
