Propagated from locally sourced Welsh material and grown here in South Wales. A slow-growing native shrub of heathland, moorland and woodland edges, providing flowers and berries for wildlife. Growing in nutrient poor, acidic solils.

The flowers are small, only a few millimetres across. they hang downwards from the leaf axils and are shaped like little lanterns. The flowers are usually pale pink to pink-red, sometimes with a greenish or whitish tone.

In the spring the small bell-shaped flowers supply nectart for insects. It supports the rare and declining Bilberry Bumblebee which relies on Bilberry. The dense low bush creates a rich micro-climate for animlas.
