A perennial water-loving herb that can be found in wet meadows, wet woods and margins of ponds.

An elegant plant that has long erect leaves and produces large, beautiful, sunshine-yellow flowers that are 10cm across. Does very well planted alongside or in garden ponds. Often planted in baskets as it has vigorous growth.

Thought to be the inspiration of the fleur-de-lis symbol.
