Wood Anemones are pernnials and part of the buttercup family. It is a good indicator of ancient woodlands. They have star-shaped white flowers and can often be seen carpeting woodland floors in the spring. They like moist, well-drained soils with partial shade. A species in decline.

Wood Anemones are named after the Greek god of the wind, Anemos. Windflower is another name for this plant.
