WHITE POPLAR Populus alba

A beautiful deciduous, naturalised non-native tree. It grows very tall and spreads by suckering from its roots. It can tolerate salt and wind, making it a great coastal windbreak. It's flowers are an excellent nectar source for early pollinators and its fluffy seed heads are eaten by birds. The pale undersides or leaves are covered with hairs, which make them look white.
