Marsh Mallow is a graceful perennial herb of coastal locations and in transition zones where there is brackish water in marshes and ditches. It has soft velvety leaves which are oval in shape. In May, large pale pink flowers are produced. This plant can be grown in gardens in damper areas.
'Real' Marsh mallows have been made from the root of this plant since Egyptian times.
Marsh Mallow has declined markedly through most of its ranges due to increased drainage.
This plant is great for pollinators, loved by bumblebees and is the foodplant of the Mallow moth.
