Our special native Gower Crab Apple with Mistletoe trees have taken over four years to grow from apple seeds collected on the Gower and Mistletoe seeds collected from Monmouthshire. Once seeded onto the Crab Apples, Mistletoe leaves appear in the second year, and in the third year put on a growth spurt and start branching. Female Mistletoes will start producing berries in the fifth year.

These berries provide an important winter food source for birds such as the Mistle Thrush, Blackcaps, Redwing and Fieldfare. There are also six species of insect which are reliant on Mistletoe.

Traditionally, with every Christmas kiss under the mistletoe, a berry has to be removed.

Our trees are grown in 15L/27L tree bags and vary between 1.2m and 1.8m in height.

As, only the female mistletoes produce berries, our crab apple trees have a minimum of 3 mistletoe plants, to provide the best chance that each tree will produce berries.

This tree is for collection from the nursery only.
