An attractive mat-forming perennial of wet banks, ditches, fens, dune slacks and marshy grasslands. Generally a local species in Britain. A delicate creeping perennial plant with a profusion of star-shaped flowers in summer. Found naturally in boggy areas or very shallow water, it can be grown at the edges of a pond or in a bog garden.
