Occurs in permanently flooded swamps, mires and wet meadows in a wide range of soils. This perennial plant will happily grow and spread in a pond without taking over. The elegant ruby red flowers are a great source of nectar for bees, hoverflies and many other kinds of insects that swarm around ponds and other wetland sites.
