A beautiful blue bellflower of well-drained acidic and basic grasslands, on coastal and inland cliffs and in fixed dunes. It is common and widespread in suitable places throughout Britain. An attractive perennial which spreads rhizomatically. 

Found in open, dry infertile grasslands. dunes, rock ledges and roadside verges. A flower that does well in rockeries.
