Helygen Mair

A low deciduous shrub with foliage that has a heady fragrance. Found in wetland habitats, primarily lowland bogs, but in cultivation also grows well in wet, neutral soils or ponds.  In the wild the species has suffered significant declines, due to the loss of boggy habitats. The flowers are highly scented.

It is an important host species for many species of insect, including the very rare Rosy Marsh Moth.

Please note that between October and the end of April the species has no leaves.
