Common Cottongrass is a native perennial growing 30-75 cm in height and produces brown flowers during April and June, shortly followed by the white cotton tufted seed-heads. It can be found in a range of habitats from upland blanket bogs and hillside flushes to wet heaths and marshy meadows in the lowlands.
