Otherwise known as the May tree, as it produces a profusion of flowers in May. A sure sign that summer isn't far away. Hawthorn is a vigorous, dense thorny shrub that provides excellent security when used as a hedging plant, but more importantly provides an abundance of blossom during May which attracts many invertebrate pollinators.
