Think shady corners of your garden are too gloomy for wildflowers? Think again!

Goldenrod is a wonderful little wildflower for bringing a splash of golden-yellow colour to those tricky areas where many plants struggle. Naturally found in woodland edges, hedgerows and lightly shaded habitats, it is perfectly at home in the dappled shade beneath trees or tucked into a shady border.

From late summer into autumn, Goldenrod produces beautiful sprays of tiny, bright yellow flowers keeping your garden looking colourful when summer flowers begin to fade.

Goldenrod is a valuable late-season source of nectar and pollen, providing food for bees, hoverflies, butterflies and other insects at a time when fewer wildflowers are in bloom.

Particularly useful for areas of dappled or partial shade, woodland-style gardens and the edges of tree canopies. It prefers reasonably well-drained soil and, once established, is a wonderfully unfussy native perennial.

The flowers attract a wide range of pollinators and the plant is host to several scarce invertebrates such as the Star-wort moth.
