FABACEAE

WOOD BITTER-VETCH Vicia orobus

Wood Bitter-vetch is a native perennial herb growing 15-40 cm in height and flowers from June to August. The species has very low powers of dispersal and its distribution is highly fragmented and localised. Wales is a global stronghold of the world population of this species though overgrazing and undergrazing has lead to declines. Direct action is required at many sites to safeguard isolated populations.
